Terms of Service

The short version: RentFair gives you information and prepares documents so you can handle your rent increase yourself. We are not a law firm, we are not solicitors, and we don't give legal advice. We can't promise what a tribunal will decide.

1. Who we are

RentFair (rentfair.uk) is run by Mouad, trading as RentFair, Morocco. Contact: hello@rentfair.uk.

2. What we provide

For a one-off fee of £39 we provide: a check of your Section 13 notice against the published requirements; an estimate of the going rate for similar homes near you based on publicly available data and the information you give us; an evidence checklist and bundle; a pre-filled draft of tribunal Form MR1 for you to review and submit yourself; and email reminders of your deadlines. We aim to deliver your report within 48 hours of receiving your documents.

3. What we do not provide

We do not give legal advice and do not act as your solicitor, representative or agent.
We do not submit anything to the tribunal for you and do not attend hearings.
We do not guarantee any outcome. A tribunal can set the rent at, or below, the landlord's proposed figure, and the result depends on the facts of your case. Past decisions shown on our site are examples, not predictions.
Our rent estimates are estimates, not valuations.

If your situation is complicated, or you need legal advice, speak to a solicitor, Shelter, Citizens Advice or a tenants' union.

4. Your responsibilities

You must give us accurate information and check every document before you sign or send it. You are responsible for meeting your deadlines, including the deadline to apply to the tribunal. Our reminders are a courtesy and not a substitute for checking the dates on your own notice.

5. Price and payment

The price is £39 including any VAT that applies, paid once. Payment is processed by our payment provider. The tribunal's own application fee (currently £47) is separate and is paid by you to the tribunal.

6. Our straight-answer promise (refunds)

If your rent increase is at or below the going rate for similar homes and your notice is valid, we will tell you so plainly and refund your £39 in full. Just email us.

You also have your statutory rights. Because we start work as soon as you send your documents, you ask us to begin the service straight away and, once the report has been delivered, you may lose your 14-day right to cancel for a change of mind, except where the promise above applies. If something is wrong with our service, contact us and we'll put it right or refund you.

7. Our liability

We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or being negligent. We are not liable for the outcome of any tribunal decision, for a missed deadline caused by information not provided or reminders not read, or for loss of profit or business. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

9. Changes and law

We may update these terms; the version in force when you buy applies to your purchase. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring a claim in the courts of the part of the UK where you live.
